Abstract |
The communication between endothelial cell (EC) and smooth muscle cell (SMC) via miR-143/145 cluster is vital to vascular stability. Previous research demonstrates that miR-143/145 released from EC can regulate SMC's proliferation and migration. A recent study finds that SMC also has the capability of manipulating EC's function via miR-143/145. This study artificially increased the expression of miR-143/145 in EC to mimic the similar change caused by miR-143/145 released by SMC and applied untargeted metabolomics analysis, aiming to investigate the consequential effect of miR-143/145 overexpression. Our results show that miR-143/145 overexpression alters the levels of metabolites involved in energy production, DNA methylation and oxidative stress. These changed metabolites indicated that the metabolic pathways, such as SAM cycle and TCA cycle, exhibited significant difference. |
