Abstract |
Apart of medical reasons, a definitive diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma may be required as a basis for a claim of financial compensation although a pathological source of conclusive evidence is missing. Clinical assessment of all available data is then the only option to come to a final conclusion. We evaluated the diagnostic work-up of a large cohort of Dutch patients who applied for financial compensation due to mesothelioma. We determined how often a pathological or clinical diagnosis can be made, and which factors are associated with making the final diagnosis malignant mesothelioma. |

Attention Score in Context
This research output has an Altmetric Attention Score of 1. This is our high-level measure of the quality and quantity of online attention that it has received. This Attention Score, as well as the ranking and number of research outputs shown below, was calculated when the research output was last mentioned on 19 February 2013.
All research outputs
#17,286,379
of 25,374,647 outputs
Outputs from Lung Cancer (01695002)
#2,107
of 3,036 outputs
Outputs of similar age
#205,204
of 309,594 outputs
Outputs of similar age from Lung Cancer (01695002)
#19
of 30 outputs
Altmetric has tracked 25,374,647 research outputs across all sources so far. This one is in the 21st percentile – i.e., 21% of other outputs scored the same or lower than it.
So far Altmetric has tracked 3,036 research outputs from this source. They typically receive a little more attention than average, with a mean Attention Score of 7.0. This one is in the 24th percentile – i.e., 24% of its peers scored the same or lower than it.
Older research outputs will score higher simply because they've had more time to accumulate mentions. To account for age we can compare this Altmetric Attention Score to the 309,594 tracked outputs that were published within six weeks on either side of this one in any source. This one is in the 24th percentile – i.e., 24% of its contemporaries scored the same or lower than it.
We're also able to compare this research output to 30 others from the same source and published within six weeks on either side of this one. This one is in the 20th percentile – i.e., 20% of its contemporaries scored the same or lower than it.
