It’s a busy time for the Altmetric team this week – tomorrow we’ll be running a hack day for anyone and everyone with an interest in science or altmetrics development, and on Thursday and Friday we are off to the Wellcome Collection for the 1:AM altmetrics conference, which we’ve been involved in organising with the support of some great folks from PLOS, Elsevier, Springer, and the Wellcome Trust.
Both have generated a lot of interest and a fantastic amount of support from across the academic community – it’s been great for us to see how keen people are to get involved and we’re hoping that both events will serve to further stimulate and drive the evolution of altmetrics as a useful tool for researchers, funders, institutions and publishers alike.
The conference will give us a chance to hear from a wide variety of groups, and we’ll be happy to stop and chat with anyone who wants to discuss anything in more detail. Feel free to grab one of the team as you come across them, email, or tweet any questions that you’d like answered.
For those who aren’t able to join us at the conference, don’t forget you can still get involved remotely. You might also like to keep an eye out for tweets and blog posts relating to the metrics workshop being hosted by HEFCE and the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex on the 7th of October, where Altmetric Founder Euan and a number of other representatives from across publishing and academia will debate the propects and pitfalls of new research metrics.
