| Abstract |
Since the early 2000s, UK universities have been criticised because of the performance gap between white students and their counterparts. In addition, the challenges with an increasing number of international students’ intake have impacted on students’ retention and completion of the programme. Data suggests that international students are significantly underperformed than White students and the assumption is that (international) students do not have the academic ability to succeed in UK HE. However, the real challenge here might be not about students’ academic ability but about lecturers’ teaching ability as many UK Universities recruit dual professional lecturers, who have not gone through appropriate pedagogical training, to embed industry experience in their curricula. |
