A Kiyooka aldol condensation of an aldehyde with a trimethylsilyl ketene acetal and the oxazaborolidinone prepared from N-Ts-(S)-valine gives two of the four possible aldol adducts, which were oxidized and deprotected to complete the synthesis of (-)-berkelic acid and (-)-22-epi-berkelic acid. This synthesis establishes the absolute stereochemistry and assigns the stereochemistry at C-22. A biosynthetic pathway is proposed that is consistent with the known absolute stereochemistry at the quaternary carbon of spiciferone A, spicifernin, and berkelic acid and provides a simple explanation for the differing stereochemistry at C-18 and C-19 of spicifernin and berkelic acid.
This research output has an Altmetric Attention Score of 5. This is our high-level measure of the quality and quantity of online attention that it has received. This Attention Score, as well as the ranking and number of research outputs shown below, was calculated when the research output was last mentioned on 25 March 2015.
All research outputs
#9,598,958
of 34,364,397 outputs
Outputs from Journal of Organic Chemistry
#17,785
of 41,400 outputs
Outputs of similar age
#58,007
of 172,690 outputs
Outputs of similar age from Journal of Organic Chemistry
#75
of 150 outputs
Altmetric has tracked 34,364,397 research outputs across all sources so far. This one has received more attention than most of these and is in the 70th percentile.
So far Altmetric has tracked 41,400 research outputs from this source. They typically receive a little more attention than average, with a mean Attention Score of 5.3. This one has gotten more attention than average, scoring higher than 56% of its peers.
Older research outputs will score higher simply because they've had more time to accumulate mentions. To account for age we can compare this Altmetric Attention Score to the 172,690 tracked outputs that were published within six weeks on either side of this one in any source. This one has gotten more attention than average, scoring higher than 64% of its contemporaries.
We're also able to compare this research output to 150 others from the same source and published within six weeks on either side of this one. This one is in the 48th percentile – i.e., 48% of its contemporaries scored the same or lower than it.
