Abstract

Return to play after thigh muscle strain injury is difficult to predict and recurrent injury rates are high. There is currently no agreement on the optimal return to play protocol following muscle injury and utility of imaging is debated. Ultrasound has become an increasingly utilized imaging modality and offers several potential advantages for monitoring the return to play process following muscle injury. An ultrasound scanning protocol is presented which provides real-time guidance on muscle healing and may assist with identification of those athletes at risk of reinjury who otherwise appear clinically fit for return to play.

Attention Score in Context

Attention Score in Context

This research output has an Altmetric Attention Score of 13. This is our high-level measure of the quality and quantity of online attention that it has received. This Attention Score, as well as the ranking and number of research outputs shown below, was calculated when the research output was last mentioned on 02 August 2022.
All research outputs
#3,108,577
of 28,766,646 outputs
Outputs from Current Sports Medicine Reports
#266
of 1,476 outputs
Outputs of similar age
#53,999
of 351,879 outputs
Outputs of similar age from Current Sports Medicine Reports
#5
of 23 outputs
Altmetric has tracked 28,766,646 research outputs across all sources so far. Compared to these this one has done well and is in the 89th percentile: it's in the top 25% of all research outputs ever tracked by Altmetric.
So far Altmetric has tracked 1,476 research outputs from this source. They typically receive a lot more attention than average, with a mean Attention Score of 16.2. This one has done well, scoring higher than 81% of its peers.
Older research outputs will score higher simply because they've had more time to accumulate mentions. To account for age we can compare this Altmetric Attention Score to the 351,879 tracked outputs that were published within six weeks on either side of this one in any source. This one has done well, scoring higher than 84% of its contemporaries.
We're also able to compare this research output to 23 others from the same source and published within six weeks on either side of this one. This one has done well, scoring higher than 78% of its contemporaries.
