We got mineralogy data for Black Rock Playa in this paper. It has a lot of 10 Å clay minerals (probably illite), and sodium carbonate. Seems that heavy clay and washing soda mixed with rainwater would yield a nasty slurry. thus, trouble at Burning Man. h
