e.g Mismanaged stormwater/groundwater drainage can enlarge/reactivate paleochannels under beaches sometimes creating rip currents. These block sediment supply, create wet beaches that do not build dunes & lead to increased periods of erosion. https

Really interesting article that identifies a relationship between quasi-permanent rip currents and buried paleo-channels. More evidence for geologic control on nearshore processes!
