@Paul_Carini @HensonMW_08 Have you tried Böstrom et al method? They claim good DNA from 2mL seawater. I've gotten good tags from ~8mL of 10^6 cells/mL of hydrothermal fluid. Only suggested modification is linear acrylamide instead of tRNA as co-precipitant
