I'm aware of this study looking at a bunch of antidepressant drugs and finding positive but modest effects and variable dropout rates in trials. But it doesn't explore heterogeneity or long-term effects or address the possibility of dependence/withdrawal.
If I could have one favorite paper it would be this one for sure (until a future network meta stratifies response and tolerability by relevant service user factors probably)
