Metastatic malignancies can cause both DIC and a TMA, which can be hard to distinguish. This paper breaks it down. Key point: both cause MAHA, but DIC has more coagulopathy and consumption of coag factors (⬆️⬆️PT/PTT) and fibrinolysis (⬆️⬆️D-dimer). https

In critically ill patients, the hemostasis is all messed up. DIC, TMA, and liver failure share common complex pathways and investigating the exact etiology of the coagulopathy can be challenging. This is amazing read! https://t.co/DTtGivavFa https://t.co/
