Why every generation thinks they are better than the previous. 1) They project their virtues to their younger selves and current generation comes up short. 2) They have a specific tendency to notice short- comings in younger people on things they excel in.

Every generation has unique challenges since sometime before the industrial revolution, but I'm always skeptical of "Kids these days" claims. Interesting stuff:
This is great. Due to a memory bias we project our own (current) qualities to the kids of the past, which makes us think kids-these-days are worse.

“Two mechanisms contribute to humanity’s perennial tendency to denigrate kids: a person-specific tendency to notice the limitations of others where one excels and a memory bias projecting one’s current qualities onto the youth of the past.”
