@Thinkwert Arthropod genomes have a similar number of genes to us but very little non-coding DNA. On average about 1.3 gigabases per this article. So 1Tbite = 1.3/8 GB = 1.165GB. Hope this helps. https://t.co/WBMm5fpEeV

Now, I'm not at expert at sanger sequencing, PCR sequencing, qPCR sequencing, or any of the fun lab stuff but, it's estimated that the average genome for arthropod species is around 2GB. 8TB / 2GB = 4,000 sequences. https://t.co/ROQKZoy70G

Regarding WGS, they could be very small at 69 Mb (chironomid midges) to extremely large at 16.5Gb (Orthoptera aka Grasshoppers). An 8 Terabyte hard drive would hold: 115,942 long read WGS sequences from midges, or 3,879 Grasshoppers. For $140. https://t

@SarahMackAttack Check out https://t.co/lFFiHmd3J5. Cicadas are always above your threshold and are accompanied by many orthopterans.
