People in education have known that this review was a crock from the moment it was published. Will those in power actually listen now? The answer is probably ‘only when it’s too late’, accompanied by a ‘who could have known?’ non-apology.

School closures + bad science (THREAD) Remember that 6 Apr Lancet C&AH systematic review on school closures--with that media-amplified "2-4%" statistic--by a UCL team led by RCPCH president + SAGE member Russell Viner? It has some serious problems.

@BriongloidBoy It tough I know but numerous studies have now shown that children hardly get Covid19 and do not or hardly transmit the virus, which was already known from the 2003 SARS outbreak. There was therefore no medical reason for the closure of schoo
At no time was there a medical reason for the closure of elementary schools, as the risk of disease and transmission in children is extremely low. There is also no medical reason for small classes, masks or ‘social distancing’ rules in elementary schools.
