میزان مرگ و میر به هر دلیل، در خانمهای مسنی که روزانه ۴۴۰۰ قدم راه میروند کمتر از آنهایی است که روزانه ۲۷۰۰ قدم راه می روند. این کاهش تا ۷۵۰۰ قدم روزانه بیشتر می شود و سپس ثابت می ماند.
