Tracking multiple languages in the Altmetric Explorer Tracking multiple languages in the Altmetric Explorer Wikipedia is one of the most important sources of information on the web and one of the most visited websites. A commonly held assumption is that the English Wikipedia is so much larger and active than the others that it’s often the only one people consider. When two years ago, we at Altmetrics decided to improve diversity by reworking our pipeline to include languages, we became interested in understanding whether the different languages describe a broader view of ‘research’ and – separately – whether academics trust Wikipedia. Today, Altmetric can track dozens of languages, including English, Spanish, German, Chinese/Mandarin, Japanese, and many more. Watch our webinar and learn how our research has confirmed that different languages contribute a unique voice to the representation of research and trust.
